Telluride Renewable Energy Initiative

Telluride Mountainfilm was an appropriate venue for the announcement on May 23 of a new program of renewable energy in the Telluride region. The introduction to the session was given by Bill McKibben, longtime advocate for solutions to global climate change. Mountain Village mayor Bob Delves and Stu Fraser, mayor of Telluride spoke of their commitment to not only meet Gov. Ritter's challenge to reduce greenhouse gasses, but to have all the electricity used in the Telluride region produced from renewable sources by 2020.

The New Community Coalition and its director, Kris Holstrom are to cooridinate the efforts, with support from the two towns, San Miguel County, San Miguel Power Association, and all other stakeholders, including residents, businesses, Telluride Ski and Golf.

TIO's Eileen Burns recorded the video, without a tripod, yet.
