Fashion Friday: summer hats

Over the Fourth of July weekend, Telluride was all about red, white and blue: parades, parties, Plein Air. And fashionable ladies were all about Old Blue Eyes - at least his headgear. Frank Sinatra wore fedoras. So did lots of other Hollywood celebrities – and gangsters – and so are more and more local ladies.
At one post-parade party, Telluride Inside... and Out's fashion maven, Kristin Holbrook spied two of the town's most fashionable women sporting cool fedoras.
Catherine Frank of Studio Frank paired her chapeau with a vest and jeans. Cashmere Red's Caci Grinspan wore a pretty print cloche, a variation on the theme, with a belted wide-striped sundress.
Hats, like the other big summer fashion accessory, scarves – is a great prop to mix and match with the larger trend of hi-lo fashion, a BIg Bang for your buck that lends buckets of attitude – and, in some cases, sun protection.
Call them what you like– fedora, trilby, cloche, panama – the "I just borrowed this from my boyfriend's closet" thing is way cool, and an easy and relatively inexpensive way to add a dash of flash.
Maybe it is better to think Marlene, rather than Frank....
