17 Dec On Sales: Artist featured at Telluride Gallery of Fine Art
The Telluride Gallery of Fine Art opens the holiday season with a show of new work by internationally celebrated painter Susan Sales.
Sales's canvasses mark the nexus of two major movements in contemporary art history: Abstract Expressionism or muscular "action painting." (Think Jackson Pollack) of the 1940s/50s and Color Field painting of the 1960s. (Think Frank Stella and art for art's sake.) But in the end, a Sales is Sales: bold, beautiful explorations of paint for paint's sake and color for color's sake.
