Where it's at: The Peaks, Mountain Village all winter

Peaks March Entertainment Mike Hess, Director, Marketing and Real Estate Services at The Peaks Resort & Spa in Mountain Village is a man of few words. But he tells it like it is:

“We are really excited to have such a wide variety of entertainment of such high caliber for everyone to enjoy. No question about it: The Peaks is the Place to Be this winter."

It used to be that way back in the day. In the early 1990s, there was no Hatfield and McCoy action between the twin towns of Telluride and Mountain Village. Everyone played nice and no one thought twice about heading uptown on the Gondola or stopping by apres ski to party with friends and listen to some fine music, often performed by local talent. Where they headed was The Peaks. The place was a magnet for downtown and uptown locals. Then it wasn't. And the drought lasted a number of years.

But – sing hallelujah – the momentum has returned under new (and largely local) management and with it, the music. Most of the action is on The Peaks recently built Palmyra Deck, with some of the best views not just in the Southwest, in the whole Western world. Among the regulars on this winter's schedule Mike Pale, Randy Rand, Chris Hughes, Richard Tavener, Melanie Kent, William Smethurst, DJ Ryan, Sunday Smith, Jeff Pine, Gary Floyd, Joe Lupariello, and Steve Feldburg.

And if you are one of the lucky ones with a ticket to the Telluride AIDS Benefit gala fashion show, The Peaks is the place to be and be seen for TAB's patron's party Saturday night, March 5. (By invitation only.)
