KIR Jewelry is designed by Boulder, Colorado native Kirsten Boedecker, displayed and sold at Telluride’s Dolce Jewels, where the focus is now on her mother-of-pearl pieces with intricate carved detail.
Kirsten is on hand this weekend to talk about Bali, her work there, her experiences and her inspiration. Her talk is the featured part of a Dolce-sponsored class in Custom Carving schedule to take place at Telluride’s five-star Wilkinson Public Library. The event takes place Saturday, March 19, at noon. The class opens with a review of custom carving, led by instructor/certified gemologist Susan Heard, also of Dolce. (Lunch is included.)
KIR’s distinctive pieces in sterling silver and 18K gold are hand made in Bali.
“My collections have evolved over the 19 years I have been designing jewelry,” explained Kirsten. “As the scope of my personal travels have widened, so too have my choices for materials and pieces.”
Kirsten begins with the idea that a well made piece might become an heirloom. Bali takes over from there.
“My designs are a passionate collaboration of brilliant craftsmanship and my interpretation of the beauty in the stunning region of Indonesia. This culture’s transformative spiritual underpinnings stir and fascinate me. Bali is a place unlike any other, where every flower is seen as a gift; every smile comes from the heart. The elements of body, harmony and balance are tangible in every piece I create.”
