ROSEMERRY’S “THE MIRACLE ALREADY HAPPENING”

Raise your hands if spending a few hours with a beautiful, intelligent, articulate woman is appealing.

You get your chance at Between the Covers Bookstore on Friday, December 30, 5 – 7 p.m.. when poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer signs her latest book of poetry, “The Miracle Is Already Happening: Everday Life with Rumi.”

The title of the book is a kind of shorthand for the author herself. Rosemerry embodies “The Miracle Already Happening.” A knockout inside and out, who happens to write beautiful poetry – she was Poet Laureate of San Miguel County) – Rosemerry is also a wonderful mom and an enthusiastic grower of organic fruit. And she does all that without breaking a sweat.

In “The Miracle is Already Happening,” Rosemerry, aka Word Woman, channels the 13th-century Sufi mystic Rumi, giving the great (and in vogue all over again) poet new life with her usual delicacy, playfulness, and groundedness.

“A rare treat: a rigorous conversation with the past made fresh by vulnerability, playfulness, humor and knockout surprise. There is so much integrity here, and discipline, and grace. And restraint, and cutting loose all at once. All this in poems that can be surrounded by a great quietness. The sensation can be like listening for birdsong, and having the bird silently and suddenly land on your shoulder. If you don’t fall over, you will shout or laugh,” Peter Heller, author, Kook and The Whale Warriors

“The Miracle is Already Happening” takes the form of conversations with the master, answering questions such as these: What would happen if a Sufi mystic showed up in your kitchen? Or at your son’s elementary school choir concert? Or in your garden?

Whimsical and humble, Rosemerry’s are poems of discovery, praise, and unlearning, invitations to find holiness in every moment, in every place. Even Walmart.
