DOG’S BEST FRIEND: TRAINING LITTLE DOGS

In this week’s video from Cottonwood Ranch and Kennel, Ted Hoff gives us some ideas about working with small dogs with large personalities. Zoe, a mixed terrier, is Ted’s subject today, and we can see that under Ted’s tutelage, Zoe doesn’t behave differently from the full-sized breeds he more often works with.

Has your little dog been treated differently just because he is small? Perhaps a little bit spoiled? Ted’s way of dealing with this issue is much the same as it would be with a larger dog: patience, repetition, praise for proper behavior. And most of all, the same high expectations, and positive reinforcement when those expectations are met.
