BUDDHISM 101: COURSE AT YOGA CENTER MID-MAY

BUDDHISM 101: COURSE AT YOGA CENTER MID-MAY

Editor’s note: This in from our friend and sometimes contributor Elisabeth Gick.

Happy spring to you all!

Just before you head off into off-season I would like to let you know that our friend Jangchub Chophel will return to Telluride in mid-May to teach “Buddhism 101.”

We first met Chophel as one of the traveling monks who came to Telluride in 2010 and 2011, held gatherings at the library patio and the Ophir Town Hall lawn, created a sand mandala for Compassion Fest 2011, and offered us insights into Buddhist philosophy, rituals, and ethics.

Last December, at the end of the tour, Chophel returned to life as a lay-person, but is more committed than ever to the teaching of the dharma. Instead of red robes he wears blue jeans, instead of “Chophel” he is “John” again. Different name, same fabulous teacher. Sparkling person, devoted Buddhist.

The course starts Friday evening, May 11, and continues with morning and afternoon classes on Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13.

Everything happens at the bright and beautiful Telluride Yoga Center. Cost is “By donation.”
