MEDICAL MOMENT: PATIENT PORTALS

Telluride Inside… and Out is proud to feature the Telluride Medical Center‘s MEDICAL MOMENT, a weekly column that answers common medical questions in pop culture. Have a question for the doctors? Click here to send.

NURSE PRACTITIONER ERIC JOHNSON ADDRESSES THIS WEEK’S SUBJECT:

“WHAT IS A PATIENT PORTAL?”

Eric C. Johnson, Primary Care Practice Manager, Family Nurse Practitioner

Eric C. Johnson, Primary Care Practice Manager, Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Why two portals?

One portal is designed for you to access your billing information, update your personal profile, download and complete forms prior to your physical and send messages to our billing staff.  You can also request appointments on this site.

The second, and most exciting, Patient Portal is the clinical portal.

This, with our electronic medical record partner eClinicalWorks allows you secure access to your medical record, summaries of your visits, and health education resources.

The portal also allows you to securely message your health care provider, request prescription refills and view your lab and x-ray results.

These two resources can make you an active partner in your health care. So, sign up by going to the Telluride Medical Center’s website and look on the right side of the home page where you’ll see information on both portals. Click the links and follow the instructions, or next time you are in the Medical Center ask how to get signed up.

Editor’s note: The Telluride Medical Center is the only 24-hour emergency facility within 65 miles. You can choose your own medical provider visit with a specialist or take advantage of their Mountain Skin Care services. As a mountain town in a challenging, remote environment, a thriving medical center is vital to our community’s health. For more Medical Moments on TIO, Click Here.
