POETS' CORNER: FEELA FOR ELECTION DAY

Editor’s note: Author/poet/recently retired teacher-writing instructor David Feela is a regular contributor to Telluride Inside… and Out. His latest book, “How Delicate These Arches: Footnotes from the Four Corners,” a collection of essays, is available at Between the Covers Bookstore. We implored David to send us a post about Columbus Day. Below is his response.

No Love Lost

(I am the poet, and I approve this poem)

Political Wimbledon replays all fall,
posturing, accusations, lobs and aces,

slams, double faults, the candidates’ faces
served up with the grace of a tennis ball.

Ads back to back, misleading attacks,
exactly what the networks do best

while we sprawl on the couch and digest
all those snacks we have swallowed as facts.
