Don’t forget to wear green.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the whole family at this Oscar-nominated Celtic adventure from director Tomm Moore. This Irish-French-Belgian animated masterpiece is a reminder that “enlightenment is the best fortification against evil.”

Young Brendan lives in a medieval Irish monastery with his uncle. The outpost is fortified by high walls to protect the monks from Viking raids and Brendan is forbidden to leave the perimeter.  One day, the abbey get a visit from master illuminator Aidan of Iona, who brings with him the Book of Iona. He asks Brendan to help him complete the important manuscript by going into the forest to collect gall nuts to make the ink. Summoned by adventure and imagination, Brendan defies his uncle and enters the forest where he must confront his deepest fears to help light pervade over darkness and to assist in the completion of the magical book.

“Four Stars! Ravishing!  Magical!  Glorious,” said Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
