MOUNTAINFILM: BOOKING NOW WITH EASE

Mountainfilm, TelluridePeople sometimes tell us that Mountainfilm in Telluride, which takes place every Memorial Day weekend (May 24 to 27, 2013), often conflicts with graduations and weddings. In the past, we’ve held our tongue because the laws of physics prevent a person from being in two places at once. But this year is different. Climate solutions is the theme of the 2013 Moving Mountains Symposium, and it’s a topic too important for anyone to miss, so we urge you to make the right decision.

Here’s the thing: Graduations and weddings fill many calendar days all over the planet. Mountainfilm happens only once a year. And each time, the event is mindblowingly different, memorable, and often even life-changing. How many weddings or graduations (aside from your own) can you say that about?
Now that you’ve decided to come, the first thing you need to do is purchase an airline ticket. Right now is the perfect time to buy airfare because research shows that, “over the past four years, passengers paid the lowest price for domestic flights when buying just about six weeks in advance.” Perfect. Mountainfilm is about six weeks away. To learn how to get to Telluride, Colorado, visit our site’s Getting Here page.

Once you’ve booked a flight, pick up a festival pass because they’re on sale at discounted prices until May 1. (Be sure to check out this year’s new Fitzroy pass if you’re on a tight budget. It provides admission to the two large theaters for a bargain price.)

Once you’ve taken care of those details (including accommodations), we suggest keeping an eye on the growing list of festival guests, the symposium information and then return to our website regularly for updates, including the announcement of films. (The schedule will be released shortly before the festival.)

If you’re wondering how to break the news to the lovely couple or hard-working graduate whose special day you’re going to miss, just grab a Mountainfilm hat, T-shirt or jacket for them while you’re here. That way, they’ll know exactly where you were and that you were thinking of them. It’s a hard decision, but we’re confident that it’s one you won’t regret.
