Planet Bluegrass is thrilled to announce that Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers featuring Edie Brickell will be closing the opening night of the 40th Telluride Bluegrass Festival on Thursday, June 20.
Steve, Edie, and the Steep Canyon Rangers couldn’t be more excited to share the Summer Solstice (occurring midway through their set at 11:04 p.m.) with Festivarian Nation at the 40th Telluride Bluegrass.

The change to the 40th Telluride Bluegrass lineup follows the news released last Thursday that dear friends of the festival, Mumford & Sons, have had to cancel both their performances (Main Stage and Sheridan Opera House). After bassist Ted Dwane underwent emergency surgery early last week, doctors advised the band to cancel the rest of their U.S. tour including Bonnaroo and Telluride Bluegrass. No one is more disappointed than the band to not be playing the 40th Telluride Bluegrass, but the group will be supporting their brother on his return home to London to help him make a full recovery.

All tickets to the cancelled Sheridan Opera House show on Saturday, June 22 have now been refunded. Planet Bluegrass will announce a new Saturday Sheridan show from the Festival main stage on Thursday (including ticketing details).
