ALACAZEM 2013.07.11

July 11 to 18, 2013    Visible planets: Morning:  Mars, Jupiter      Evening:  Venus, Saturn

This week I feel compelled to write about the long-standing, ongoing Uranus [in Aries] – Pluto [in Capricorn] cardinal square. Once again, like so many planetary transits, I feel the pull of the stress and strains, the thematic challenges that seem to repeat themselves and the overall apparent effects in the lives of those closest and dearest, as well as those furthest and least dear.

EARTH on fireUranus and Pluto are outer planets and are therefore energetic envoys to collective, global movements, universal catharsis and mass change. As individuals, we often experience the energy coming from the outside, in waves, via social media or experiences, national news and international events. The world quakes, people revolt, governments crumble, volcanoes erupt and tsunamis roll. Sometimes the phenomenon hits us directly, and our lives fall apart. We lose loved ones or experience radical, disruptive change. Other times, we are awakened to the fact that there are powers much greater and stronger than we are. We must surrender and let go, get down on our knees and ask for help. Humility, in quest of grace.

rainbowsFor many of us here in the desert southwest, the surrender and powerlessness has come in the shape of what is now referred to as “climate change” or “global warming”.  A severe drought has left normally green fields parched, auburn, blonde and brown. Fires have raged, smoke has settled. On a mesa kissed and crowned by the majestic San Juans on the east end and Utah’s blue, sky island La Sals on the west end, summer usually comes in the shape of towering cumulus clouds and afternoon showers. But, this year, summer has been super-hot and dry. It hasn’t rained for months.

solar_system3Remote and rural, we depend upon Mother Nature for our survival. Without rain, the land suffers and life withers. But, here we are. And, here I am, an infinitesimal human upon a planet revolving around a central star, a planet amongst a group of celestial bodies in a solar system spiraling around the Galactic Center of our Milky Way Galaxy, a galaxy in one of billions.

Looking at my place today from that perspective, I harvest inner calm. I know my efforts are worthwhile and cause effect. Action is karmic and forever. The Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars give me hope, give me heart, give me the courage to stay busy, to do the chores, and against all odds, keep the faith. These times are wild and crazy. The Uranus – Pluto square constellates for me the Super PACS and super powers that seem to be in control of our fate and fortune as humans upon this planet Earth. Money and greed seem to rule. That’s the Pluto in Capricorn part. On the other end of the square, I feel my small importance and big responsibility – to myself and others – to personally awaken and take action, find and follow the truth, maintain self-authenticity and do the next right thing, to the best of my ability. That’s the Uranus in Aries part – the enlightened, self-motivated bodhisattva or spiritual warrior – the one ready and willing to fight for right, for goodness, peace, compassion, equality and justice.

tipi sunWEBvic13_Jul12evOn the evening of July 10th, I went outside to turn the water off in our garden. The day had been like a sauna, sweltering heat in the 90’s. The Sun had set behind a smoky haze, a red-orange ball blazing below the purple-blue western horizon. The 0% humidity had wicked the moisture out of everything. But then, a soft, seductive, cooling breeze blew in. Turquoise twilight showcased a brilliant Venus next to a delicate crescent Moon. I stood at the garden gate and breathed it all in. I blessed the Sun, the Moon, the stars. I asked for guidance and direction, clarity amidst the chaos, humility amongst the hubris, and I asked for rain.

And, in honor of goodness and grace, mystery and magic, the next day it rained!!! And, today I am grateful. I thank the rain gods and the Great Spirit. Uranus – Pluto shocks and transforms, forces humility, resurrects and redeems. To Guadalupe, Jesus Cristo, and to whomever and whatever you pray, I give thanks.

Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The big news: Saturn resumed forward motion in Scorpio on July 7th, shifting tides and clearing a path of progress for those willing to address the deepest, darkest secrets of the psyche. Emotions and feelings provide you with all the fuel you need to burn through the ego’s superficial barriers. As a warrior of spirit, you are brave and courageous. Seek assistance from invisible sources. Embrace faith and go forth.

Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Practical and patient, the Bull is gifted with the natural abilities to weather even the most turbulent storms with grace. Steady and steadfast, others find your stability comforting and calming, a good influence in a topsy-turvy world. What you have learned about primary partners and intimate relationships over the last few months can now be put to use. Focus on healthy boundaries and realistic expectations.

Gemini (May 20-June 20) Motivator Mars moves into neighboring Cancer this week, shifting gears and changing focus from “attention me” to “responsible me.” Passion and desire are now being channeled in practical, realistic ways. You find great satisfaction and pleasure in getting things done, working to improve your immediate environment and your basic bottom line. Themes of self-nurturing and self-care continue. Be extra good to you.

Cancer (June 20-July 22) Fresh off the July new Moon, you have been spiritually and cosmically reborn. Take time out to self-nurture and self-tend, make organic choices and embrace the multi-faceted, multi-verse surrounding you. Unlimited potential and possibility glimmer and glow upon the golden road ahead. An extra-powerful grand water trine increases creativity and excites romance. Heart open and feet on the ground.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) You may find yourself waxing nostalgic about past romance or childhood dreams. Feel the agony and ecstasy of life’s awesome experiences without going over the edge. We can dramatize and indulge or accept and find grace. Often we are encouraged to go toward the sharp points, learn the lessons and emerge victorious. This is what it is all about for you now. Connect with spirit, follow your heart.

Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) With ruler Mercury still retrograde in Cancer, you may find yourself resurrecting old dreams and aspirations or rediscovering old haunts and habitats. Whatever the manifestation, these times are all about refinement. Redefining your personal reality, as well as what you want and value, are powerful themes. Summer promises enhanced interactions with others. Seek out friends, open your heart to romance.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) The Cancer new Moon opens to a golden room of opportunity regarding goals and aspirations. What is it that you really want? Are you satisfied professionally? Are you working in fields and directions that feel good and right? Mercury retrograde continues to favor a bit more personal review regarding daily duties and life accomplishments.  Get an eagle’s eye view and see what you see. Take it all in.

Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) Uplifted and enlightened, or out of control and flying too high? Strong 9th house energy favors philanthropic pastimes, higher-self living and spiritual pursuit. Whatever you do and however you do it, keep your heart open and your eyes to the skies. The unlimited possibility and potential of our ever-expanding Universe is a constant. Change engenders the wisdom of insecurity. Embrace spirit inside and out.

Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) The Cancer sun-time can feel sizzling and seductive or oddly silly and out-of-synch. Whatever the manifestation, check your ego at the door and adjust your perspective to include the quirks and jerks of life. Then, rather than annoying and lame, every odd occurrence and unusual twist becomes another intriguing piece of the cosmic jigsaw. Life’s too mysterious to take it too serious. Keep the mind open, laugh and play.

Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Other people, places and things take center stage as you see your part in every play. Accepting total responsibility for the condition of your relationships is the most empowering thing you can do today. Otherwise, you find that you are giving away your power. Victim mentalities are not your forte, in fact, you rarely go there. But, somehow, you may be feeling subtly victimized. Get strong, get straight, you’re great!

Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Watery Cancer feelings can make high-minded, high-spirited Aquarians a little nervous, especially if freedom issues are involved. Just remember that healthy boundaries are healthy and over-dependent, co-dependent behaviors are not. Emotional availability in relationships is important, and we get what we give. Show up for others, practice compassion and maintain good balance in pairing and sharing.

Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) A stellar grand water trine involving Jupiter, Neptune and Saturn peaks July 17-19 and offers up a myriad of multi-faceted opportunities for accepting and blending energies of all shapes and sizes. Whether you are dealing with people or ideas in physical or spiritual realms, you may find that things seem to fall together with unusual ease and little resistance. Watch for synchronicity, follow your intuition.
