Fun at Pinhead’s Punk Science

Does your kid love digging in the dirt? How about tinkering with things around the house? Do they love seeing things explode? If your kid is a curious creature, then Pinhead is the place for him or her this summer. With a variety of programs for all ages and interests, Pinhead’s summer of science is the perfect place to expand their interests…and they will be having so much fun, they may not even realize they are learning important concepts about science, engineering, technology, and math.

Join Pinhead this summer for our seventh summer of our popular Pinhead Punk Science programs.  These programs start July 9, 5:15 p.m. and run each Tuesday through August 13, at the Telluride High School cafeteria. Punk Science is open to all ages and we will cover a variety of topics from “Radical Reactions” to “Scientific Smells” and everything in between.

Pinhead is also hosting another summer of camps with the Telluride Academy, and at at our new Pinhead Headquarters located at Lift 7, Cimarron Lodge.

Telluride Academy camps include Mad Scientists, Boom, and Blast Off!

At Pinhead offices this summer, join us for the Rockin’ Robots Lego League where kids can program Mindstorm Lego robots and build courses through which to navigate.

Pinhead also offers a new program this summer to engage our budding scientists. Our Super Science Fridays offer different programs each week, which include Rockets, Mini Med Schools complete with dissections, and even a Magical Machines physics construction camp. (Registration is required for these events.)

And don’t forget that our older Pinheads are off on summer adventures as part of our Pinhead Internship Program.

High school students from around our region are working in real-world science settings for six weeks this summer. At MIT, they are working on robots, learning more about HIV strains at UNC, and even investigating permafrost at the Cold Regions Research Lab in Fairbanks, AK. Follow along on their adventures as they post weekly blog reports about all they are learning. You can find these blog on our website with new postings each week.

About the Pinhead Institute:

The Pinhead Institute is a science education outreach program whose aim is to heighten young students’ interest in science. Pinhead coordinates an array of programs that connect K-12 students to a variety of scientific disciplines. Each program utilizes Pinhead scientific expertise, equipment and resources in order to provide K-12 students with unique, hands-on science experiences. All programs are designed to be highly interactive and relevant, in order to engage students in the scientific process while connecting them to the science and technology present in their everyday lives.

To learn more about any of Pinhead programs or to enroll your young scientist in any of our camps, please visit www.pinheadinstitute.org or call 970-708-7441.  Or visit us at Pinhead Headquarters, located at Lift 7 in the Cimarron Lodge.
