Telluride Foundation: August Workshops

Telluride Foundation: August Workshops

FOUNDATION LOGOThe following free workshops offer nonprofit building capacity opportunities.

1) Thursday, August 1, Program Evaluation and Demonstrating Outcomes Workshop, 10 a.m. to Noon, Wilkinson Public Library, Program Room. This workshop, taught by me, April Montgomery, Programs Director at the Telluride Foundation, will help you determine if your program is making the greatest possible impact and help you translate the ever-expanding vocabulary of evaluation lingo, including logic models, outcomes, outputs, and indicators. During this interactive workshop, participants will practice creating effective program evaluation plans and outcomes to share with fundors, donors, and constituents.

2) Friday, August 23, “Pitch to Win,” 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (short break for lunch), Telluride Fire District meeting room. All organizations need to pitch themselves to their constituents, donors, fundors, board or potential grantors. Pitching is simply being able tell your story well. Having a clear, persuasive and impactful story means everything to your mission. Come to this workshop to learn how to refine your story to:

•    Be tailored to specific audiences. One size does not fit all.
•    Be persuasive to move people to action. You are competing for resources. What makes you stand out?
•    To find great clarity
•    Be presented in a way that speaks to your credibility and the credibility of your organization.
•    Be comfortable delivering it in all types of settings.

This workshop is taught by Martha Gelnaw, owner of Martha Gelnaw Consulting based in New York City. The company specializes in transforming leaders and their businesses through presence and impact. Early on, during her tenure in corporate management, Martha orchestrated turnarounds within several world-class corporations such as Sony, Bristol-Myers, and KPMG. She advises senior executives and their teams in communication strategies and skills that drive greater business results. Through her work, Martha is able to remove important obstacles. Using the skills that reinvent relationships, she fosters clear communication, trust, and rapport. She facilitates embracing positive energy in an environment of change through her ability to get people to cooperate more fully.
