Roger Mason:

Roger Mason is the 2013 Festival artist. Hanging out with Roger Mason is like a trip to an amusement park: All of the senses are bombarded at once. Roger is a gifted painter – and a fixture on Main Street, his personal atelier when he’s in town. And an accomplished bass player – he performed with The Band, regularly with Keith Carradine, and once Peter Rowan at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival back in 1979, toured with Itzak Perlman. And a comedian – he once had a radio program, “Kafka Radio,” with John Goodman. And a collector of antique cars. Roger’s muse is the New Sheridan Hotel. It is also his exclusive art gallery in town: dozens of his paintings hang throughout the hotel.

Roger hails from New York’s Hudson Valley. He was trained at New York’s Pratt Institute and found his way to Telluride through a music gig.

Meet Roger at his daily poster signing at the mercantile tent from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. daily. For more info visit: www.rogermason.net.
