EcoAction Partners: San Miguel County Electronics Recycling Event

The face of e-waste. Not pretty.

The face of e-waste. Not pretty.

Need to get rid of your busted  TV or old computer monitor? Do you have an old flip phone or other household items or office electronics that are obsolete or no longer in use? Instead of throwing them out, come to San Miguel County’s electronics recycling event next week.

Meet staffers from EcoAction Partners at Lawson Hill at the San Miguel County parking lot near Viking Rentals next Thursday and Friday, October 3 and October 4, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., to drop off electronics for responsible recycling. (Sorry, there is a charge for TVs and computer monitors.)

Why should you take the time to recyle rather than toss? Electronics take up space in the landfill, can contain heavy metals and other toxic chemicals, and don’t readily decompose. Many components of your electronics can be used again as secondary raw materials, including plastic, steel, aluminum, copper, gold and silver.

For further general information about the recycling event, contact Nina Kothe at (970)728-3844.EcoAction Partners is also coordinating volunteers. Interested? Contact Kris Holstrom at kris@ecoactionpartners.org to sign up, or call (970) 728-1340. Shifts are three hours long. Lunch is provided.
