29 Sep Wilkinson Library Announces Interim Director
The Wilkinson Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Brenda Carns will become Interim Director of the Library starting Monday, September 30.
Carns is a collaborative leader who brings many years of administrative experience to the Wilkinson. She is an effective communicator who was director of the Fort Collins Public Library from 1997 – 2006 and Fort Collins Regional Library District from 2007-08. Carns was instrumental in creating the Fort Collins Regional Library District, working with the community to help it transition from a municipal library to a district library. Previously, Carns worked within the Arapahoe Library District in various capacities.
“Both candidates we brought to Telluride had very good credentials,” said board president Judy Thompson. “After interviews with the board and meetings with the staff and public, Brenda emerged as someone who understood Wilkinson Public Library and the community it serves and who could steer the library through a time of belt-tightening without losing sight of its essential role in Telluride.”
It is anticipated that Carns will serve as Interim Director for approximately six months. One of her main responsibilities will be to assist the board in its search for a permanent director, helping to ensure there will be extensive community outreach and staff participation in the process.
