A To Zs Of Self- Acceptance
I am now reading a wonderful book: “Mindsight,” by Dr. Daniel Siegel, an innovator in the integration of brain science with psychotherapy. “Mindsight” is his extraordinary guide to the practice of the same name, defined as the potent skill that is the basis for both emotional and social intelligence. From anxiety to depression and feelings of shame and inadequacy, from mood swings to addictions, OCD, and traumatic memories, most of us have a mental “trap” that causes recurring conflict in our lives and relationships. “Mindsight” offers a way out. In the book, Siegel also offers one possible definition, actually three words, to sum up the abstract concept we call “love”: “openness,” “curiosity,” and “acceptance.” And by “acceptance” Siegel means of self as well as of others. This blog by Lauren Stahl in Huff Post Healthy Living suggests “The A to Zs of Self-Love” (or acceptance).
Self-love is about liberation. It is about being the best version of yourself and leading from a place of compassion and authenticity. It is the foundation within that is empowering, forgiving, patient, and grateful.
When you are in self-love there is a respect for the person you are. There is acceptance and the present moment is where the ultimate source of fulfillment and joy lives.
So here are the A to Zs of self-love to start embracing today:
With acceptance, you set yourself free from bondage of self. You are present and you are love.
By believing in yourself, the world is at your fingertips. You can do and accomplish anything you set your mind to.
By having a deeper compassion for others, you can tap into the infinite compassion for yourself. This leads to a deeper sense of self-love.
From the pain, the turmoil, and the darkness, comes the light. That light is where true beauty and hope lie.
Are you putting forth your best and most authentic energy? By doing so, you attract similar people into your life which leads to more self-love.
Having fun is important to embrace. Embrace the balance of work and play and make time to let loose and have fun.
The more you give, the more love you receive. Give without expectations and from a genuine place of love. You know what they say about karma!
You are capable of happiness at any moment you choose. Remember this and tap into this happiness today. Cultivate your self-love.
