Telluride Arts: Holiday Arts Bazaar

Telluride Arts: Holiday Arts Bazaar

Telluride Arts’ Telluride Holiday Arts Bazaar is a weekend-long event. This year, the shopping spree featuring the work of regional artists takes place at the Elks Lodge, 472 West Pacific, starting Friday, December 4, 4 – 6 p.m. with a Grand Opening and Merrymaking event; Saturday, December 5, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Gold dumbbells for $125,000 clams.

A mahjong set by Hermès, $46,000.

Gilded playing cards with leather card case, $2300.

The so-called Darwin Tank? It’s a tank for jellyfish. You heard me. Jellyfish. Yours for only $1,621.27.

A Cedes Milano toothpaste squeezer, $244.

And for the man in your life, a Canoe condom dispenser, $42.

If you have money to burn, finding the perfect gift – and yes, all of the above are available with a keystroke – is a snap.

If, however, you have to make the thought count (and are not in market for over-the-top indulgences such as the above), locally one of the best place to find gifts as much from the heart as the wallet, is the 2015 Telluride Holiday Art Bazaar, a 40+-year-old tradition, now hosted by Telluride Arts, this year at the centrally located Elks Lodge.

As in previous years, the Bazaar features handmade and otherwise unique gifts for everyone on your list.

And another 2015 first. The Ah Haa School for the Arts has set up a crafting station on the Elks’ stage (Saturday and Sunday) to allow everyone, kids and adults, to create one-of-a kind, handcrafted gifts.
