Telluride’s Sheridan Arts Foundation’s Young People’s Theater wraps up its 2015-2016 season with “The Audition,” a one-act play by Don Zolidis, directed and adapted by Jennifer Julia

The SAFYPT presents “The Audition” a one-act play by Don Zolidis.
The play describes the process of trying out for a play and all of the tension, heartache and triumph that goes along with it. This warm and hilarious one-act production features many of the familiar characters we expect from a play about the dramatic arts: the arrogant student director, the chronic diva, and the newcomer hoping for a chance. There are lovebirds and stage parents, Goth outcasts, and diamonds in the rough.
“For young actors who are actually involved in this process (such as the 20 YPT high school students who will be performing this piece), there’s no better play to engage than ‘The Audition,'” said Director Jen Julia. “It’s a dynamic and relevant piece that also paints an accurate and provocative portrait of high school students and the relationships they build through theatre.”
“The Audition” will be the last play Jen Julia will direct for the YPT, as she prepares to leave her position of 17 years.
The Sheridan Arts Foundation was founded in 1991 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization to preserve the historic Sheridan Opera House as an arts and cultural resource for the Telluride community, to bring quality arts and cultural events to Telluride and to provide local and national youth with access and exposure to the arts through education.
