Because virgin powder runs and over-the-head turns unleash floating sensations that never grow old.

Because it is impossible not to sport an ear-to-ear grin on epic powder days.

When big snow hits, life in the Telluride region takes on a new and holy order.

Excitement hangs in the air – and crawls boldly under the sheets, propelling everyone out of the sack to gear up at warp speed and grab a prime spot on the lift line at least 30 minutes prior to the first chair.

Welcome to Sunday January 21, 2018 in Telluride.

At 7 a.m., the ski patrol reported 10″ of white had fallen over the past 24 hours. First-hand reports from the mountain early morning guesstimated the new snow was 12″ or deeper on certain aspects. And Joel Gratz with OPENSNOW.com is calling for another 3-6” to fall throughout the day.

Rad…

And with crystal ball in hand – or was it a snow globe?– the Telluride Ski Resort’s head honcho, CEO Bill Jensen, predicted it all.

At a meeting on January 10, Jensen told members of business community that following the snowfall on January 11, Telluride would very likely win Colorado’s “snow derby.”

Bingo: Telluride got nearly two feet of new – and the best conditions of the 2017-18 winter season.

Until now.

At that same upbeat talk, Jensen went on to say the forecast over the next 7-10 days looked promising, confident in the predictions of his weather gurus that our mountain would hit the magic number, a blanket of 36″, around the third week of the month – or by this weekend, by January 21.

It’s now all systems go.

And, over the remainder of the 2018 winter season, Telluride should easily continue to earn its reputation as the #1 Ski Resort in North America (by readers of Condé Nast Traveler). Forbes, Town & Country, Free Skier, W Magazine, Vogue also share the love. (Read what they have to say here.)

Cue Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow.”

And to cement the scene:
