LLAMA LIVE: ANA SIA AT FLY ME TO THE MOON SALOON

Editor’s note: In light of recent developments involving the beloved Llama, the Ana Sia performance, originally scheduled in February, is rescheduled for Saturday, March 10, and will be held at the Fly Me to the Moon Saloon. DJ Soulatomic kicks off the performance at 10:30 pm. Below is our original post.

It’s time to break out the glowsticks.

Ana Sia, aka “Princess Slay-ah,” one of the most renowned modern DJs on the West Coast, is heading our way. She is scheduled to perform in town at The Llama on Saturday, February 4. With her unique hip-hop-infused blend of electronica and dubstep, Ana brings a novel energy to the DJ scene. She recently completed a 17-track debut compilation, Surreal Estate, universally praised in a wide variety of publications including Sonic Router, Resident Advisor, and Pitchfork for its complexity and flowing beats.

A San Francisco native, Ana has performed across the globe at renowned venues such as Coachella and Lollapalooza, alongside artists such as Deadmau5, Daedelus, and The Glitch Mob (who gave her the nickname “Princess Slay-ah”). Writing about a Birmingham show, critic Afro Monk said online there were “moments when I physically couldn’t stand still. Ana Sia has the ability to create sounds that consume the listener and build palpable tension leading to brilliant climax.”

Watching the woman onstage, it’s hard to disagree. Check out this video:
