FASHION FRIDAY: BOOTIES- DON’T BE AFRAID

Short boots. Long on style.

Short boots. Long on style.

Short boots are the only style that have remained non-stop popular since the 19th century, when boots became an established footwear trend.

From shoe boots to styles that cover the lower part of the calf, booties are on the march this fall/winter season. Given the long history, we should all be comfortable with the look by now, but I recently overheard a 20-something say she would like to wear booties, but was scared to take the plunge. She just didn’t know how to integrate the look. With skinnies? With boot cuts? With dresses?

Well ladies it’s time to get over it (the fear!) and get on with it and (literally) put your best foot forward in BOOties.

For one thing, booties are more comfortable than a knee-high leather boot because the ankle-length allows the leg to breathe. Denim tucked into a leather boot can get pretty hot. And not in a good sense. Booties are also a great way to show off a pair of printed jeans – or better yet, a pair of sexy legs.

Here are a few images of how to wear this fall’s booties with skinny jeans, colored jeans, patterned jeans, leather jeans, boot-cut jeans and cuffed jeans, my new favorite. And don’t forget fitted dresses and flared skirts. All those looks work – and happen to be available at Two Skirts – so go ahead and work the fall bootie.
