Telluride Foundation: Rundola Registration Announced

If you want to start Independence Day with a BANG, then it’s time to register for the Telluride Foundation’s fourth annual Rundola footrace.  The race takes place on July 4th at 8 a.m.  The Rundola is an uphill footrace open to anyone who dares to take the challenge. Starting from the base of the gondola in Telluride, finishing at the top of the ridge that parallels the gondola, runners gain 1810 feet of elevation anyway they can—run, hike or crawl.

“The Rundola is a Fourth of July tradition for Telluride,” said Paul Major, President & CEO of the Telluride Foundation. “We are excited the event is so well received, we had over 350 participants last year. To ensure your spot you will want to sign up early.”

This year One to One Mentoring will be organizing the Kids Hill portion of the event with the Telluride Foundation.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Telluride Foundation for the kids portion of the Rundola,” said Tara Kelley, Executive Director of One to One Mentoring. “The Rundola offers a great way for us to promote fitness to the youth in our program as well as to the community, and it is wonderful exposure for One to One Mentoring.”

Runners start at the base of the gondola on the Town of Telluride side and finish at the top of the ridge, between the top of Lift 7 and the Nature Center. Runners can choose their own route up the mountain – they can take the 4,600 foot Telluride Trail with an average grade of 13% or bushwhack straight up the mountain for an even steeper climb!  There is an elevation gain of 1,810 feet.
