My wife, Debbie, and I recently visited our families in Atlanta. The focus of our trip was to address some financial and housing issues of our aging parents, my 84-year-old mother and Deb’s 80-year-old father. We knew that it wasn’t going to be easy.  So it was important for us to stay focused in the now and not get caught up in all the memories of the past and anticipation of the future that tend to sap our energy and concentration. My sermon last Sunday focused on the importance in our spiritual lives of living in the moment, being present to the eternal now.
