New owner and director, Albert Roer and Erika Henschel respectively, chose this year’s presenters not just for their stellar reputations, but also for their commitment to layered, authentic teaching. Case in point, Micheline Berry, who is based at Exhale in Venice, CA, and founder of Liquid Asana.™

For Micheline, yoga is the art of transforming dharma (universal life teachings) into action “be it through inspired thought, properly nurturing our children, a painting, a kindness or an act of peace that forever moves humanity forward.”

Micheline’s unique approach to practice and somatic dance integrates alas (water) with agni (fire), flow with dynamic stillness, power with surrender, challenge with skill. Her work is informed by Forrest, Ashtanga, Iyengar and Prana Flow™ yoga systems, as well as years of study of Tibetan Buddhism, Jungian and Lacanian psychoanalysis and Continuum somatic dance. She is the founder of Zen Dancing™, the creative director/co-founder of the world music ensembles Shaman’s Dream and Red Musette and since 1997, has produced and facilitated over 500 ritual world music concerts, dance performances and multi-media events.

You will want to leave your honey-dos, dinner menu and your kid’s soccer game outside the door. Micheline’s classes are intense mind-body experiences that engage all the senses and focus the mind inward. They are moving meditations and a celebration of the centuries-old spiritual discipline long associated with meditative practices in Buddhism and Hinduism.

As both yoga teacher and multi-media artist, Micheline is renowned for effecting healing and transformation through a powerful cocktail of vinyasa flow yoga, world beat music, somatic dance, indigenous ritual, multimedia art, Buddhist meditation and Jungian psychology. As a pioneer in the art of integrating integrating live world music with traditional yoga sadhana in the U.S., her classes are often accompanied by a live dj or a world music ensemble. Two of her four classes at the Telluride Yoga Fest –   1)”Fire in the Belly, Honey in the Heart”; 2)”Liquid Asana-Yoga, Creativity and the Power of Intention; 3) “Bhakti, Bowie & Backbends”:4) “Rock the Shakti”  – feature the sounds of Joey Lugassy and ensemble, who are performing the Friday night kirtan at the Festival.
