The summer music season of Colorado’s Western Slope region will be capped off by three days of live music and craft libations at this year’s Telluride Blues & Brews Festival. With only a week away, the excitement is building in Telluride, Colorado as the town prepares to celebrate Blues & Brews’ 21st birthday in Telluride’s Town Park. Tickets are still available, with three-day passes now limited for the 21st annual bash.

The Violent Femmes, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, and Peter Frampton will headline the 2014 event. Additional weekend performances will include The Meter Men, Buddy Guy, Dumpstaphunk, Lee Fields & the Expressions, Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires, The Slide Brothers, Zach Deputy, Roosevelt Collier & The Bayou Gypsys, Bombino, Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers, MoHead, Patrick Sweany, Shakey Graves, Roosevelt Collier “Artist at Large”, The Record Company, Markus James, Chris Dracup, Dragondeer, and Kipori Woods. Returning festival favorites Anders Osborne, the Robert Cray Band, The Lee Boys, Black Joe Lewis, and Ryan McGarvey will also join us in Town Park.

Blues & Brews is excited to add many new amenities to this year’s festival, including Colorado Yurt’s Glamping Village, a series of fully out-fitted luxury safari tents, located in Telluride’s iconic town park, free yoga sessions presented by the Telluride Yoga Festival on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, a Saturday funk costume contest, and new amenities to the VIP area, including a raw bar serving delicious seafood, and a sports bar with HD TVs to watch your favorite sporting event. Most notable is Blues and Brews’ addition of a second stage, aptly named the Blues Stage, located indoors in town park’s state-of-the-art Hanley Pavilion, adding more bands and entertainment to the festival than ever before.

For the first time in the festival history, the Blues & Brews lineup will feature comedy acts on the newly added Blues Stage. Expect appearances from the endlessly funny Troy Walker, Elliot Woolsey, and Andrew Orvedahl. In addition, Telluride Blues & Brews is excited to welcome back Colorado-based performance painter Keith ‘Scramble’ Campbell to the festival. Scramble will be painting to the tunes all weekend at the festival.

“We are excited to announce a larger lineup than in previous years, with the addition of comedians during the festival weekend,” said Steve Gumble, Festival Director. “Many new features have been added to this year’s festival including a second stage, live campground music sessions, and a diverse mix of music and entertainment.”

A free concert will kick-off the festival weekend with the Sunset Blues Concert, scheduled for 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11. The event features Ryan Mcgarvey and Denver-based band, Dragondeer to open. The concert takes place at the Mountain Village Sunset Plaza, just a short and scenic Gondola ride away from the Town of Telluride.

After the Sunset Blues Concert, head to the opening Bal de Maison show featuring Levon Helm’s daughter Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers at the historic Sheridan Opera House, Thursday evening, 9 p.m. Limited tickets are $20 for this show.

When the lights go down after each festival evening, the party continues at our four late night Juke Joint venues. Bombino and Dumpstaphunk claim our newly added second stage. A revamped Fly Me To The Moon Saloon sees Patrick Sweany and Zach Deputy. The intimate Elks Lodge houses The Record Company and The Slide Brothers. The historic Sheridan Opera House hosts The Lee Boys and Black Joe Lewis with opening act Kipori Woods. Lastly, Anders Osborne and Friends will end the weekend with sold out Fais do-do closing celebration.

Three-day passes are available for $185 each, Friday and Sunday Single Day passes are $65 each, and Saturday passes $70 each. Juke Joint passes are $25 per night, and feature late night shows at various intimate venues throughout the town of Telluride. Festival 4-day camping passes are $40 per person, with camping located adjacent to the Festival grounds starting Thursday, September 11th.
