The Sheridan Opera House begins its winter season early December  (5 – 7 ) with the Young People’s Theater production of “The Ugly Duckling,” written and directed by artistic director Jennifer Julia and starring 29 middle school actors. The play is a hilarious musical romp through the highs and lows of middle school with a definite twist on the original Hans Christian Anderson story.

December 17-21, the Sheridan Arts Foundation continues another holiday co-production with Telluride Theatre with the original play, “Playing Santa,” madcap fantasy about identity, truth and what it means to be Santa. The comedy stars a man who, after a bad fall, wakes up believing he is Santa. His family quickly learns they will not convince him otherwise, so instead of living in turmoil, they hire “actors” to play along with the delusion.

This year’s Holiday Concert Series lineup has come together nicely with a great variety of music and impressive talent. Each year we host a mix of music in the intimate Sheridan Opera House as a fundraiser for the Sheridan Arts Foundation, the non-profit that owns and operates the Sheridan Opera House. All tickets will be for sale individually but for prime seating, and to become a Holiday Patron, call Event Director Ronnie Palamar at 970-728-6363 ext. 1.

The series begins Saturday, Dec. 27, with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. Tickets are already on sale and the show will sell out. Seats will be out for dancing on this show, but there are still a limited number of reserved seats available in the balcony.
