The Rocky Mountain Chapter of Mystery Writers of America today announced the first annual holiday showcase at the Denver Press Club featuring 20 notable writers reading selections from their latest works.

“Mystery and Mistletoe” will be presented by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Mystery Writers on Thursday, Dec. 11, 6 – 9 p.m. at the Historic Denver Press Club, 1330 Glenarm Place, in Downtown Denver. The special holiday price of $10 includes hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and readings by 18 local mystery writers. The event is open to the public, but space is limited and RSVPs are required. Please purchase your ticket online at www.rmmwa.org or contact Donnell Bell at bellson@comcast.net.

The guest emcee is Helen Thorpe, whose non-fiction “Soldier Girls” was released to national acclaim earlier this year. “Soldier Girls” follows three National Guard recruits on their journey to war in Afghanistan and Iraq—and their return home. (see related story, an interview with Helen Thorpe and review of her book here.)

The Holiday Showcase will also include the opportunity to shop: booksellers will be in attendance so attendees can purchase last-minute holiday gifts and authors will be available to sign their works.

MWA members scheduled to read include Joan Johnston, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author; Manuel Ramos, winner of the 2014 Colorado Book Award; Shannon Baker, Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers’ 2014 Writer of the Year; Mike Befeler, two-time finalist for the Lefty Award for best humorous mystery; Donnell Ann Bell, 2014 Award of Merit, Virginia Romance Writers; and Rex Burns, Edgar Award Winner.

Other writers who will read from their latest works include Bonnie Biafore, Ellen Byerrum, Catherine Dilts, Warwick Downing, Christine Goff, Warren Hammond, Liesa Malik, Becky Martinez, Bruce Most, Susan Paturzo and Mark Stevens.
