December 4 to 11, 2014   Visible planets: Morning: Jupiter, Saturn     Evening: Venus, Mars

hands uphands up MLK“Hands Up, Don’t Shoot!” might be the most appropriate mantra for the current and sixth exact Uranus-Pluto square in orb this month. With the “trend” of killings between law enforcement “peace” officers or independent white male vigilantes and black young – and apparently not so young – men, I can’t help but be reminded of the civil rights issues that exploded during the Uranus-Pluto conjunction in the turbulent, game-changing ‘60’s.

In astrological circles we work with aspects and angles, archetypes and ages. Geometry and history are the tools we use to interpret and translate the cycles, eons and eras of our time here on Earth. Our solar system is like an enormous cosmic clock, geared with planets and asteroids, revolving around a central star, our Sun. And, of course, the Universe is something else entirely – infinite and ever-expanding – we know little.

janis Slow-moving planets Uranus – with an orbit around the Sun of 84 years – and Pluto – with an approximate 250-year orbit – come together in conjunction aspect in irregular time cycles, due to the elliptical orbit of Pluto. Due to this, these two planets also square each other in a similar, irregular pattern. The last time Pluto and Uranus formed a conjunction was in the mid-60’s. Move forward about 50 years. Pluto and Uranus make seven exact squares during the time between June 2012 and March 2015.

angela-davis-quoteSquares are tests of what began during the birthing energy of the conjunction. There is no question that the 60’s were a turbulent time of social change accompanied by mass protests and occasional riots in the streets, peace and anti-war demonstrations, as well as growing fears over possible global conflicts. Hippies, free love, flower power, peace, women’s liberation and the back to nature movement also emerged at this time. Today we are testing all of these concepts and states of being – or not being. And once again, we see the Power of the 1% – governments and governing agencies, corporations, billionaires and the ruling class in general – coming in to conflict with the 99% of everyone else on planet Earth. How does “Power to the People” work today.

peace posterAnd here we are, in America, basically rich and sassy, eating GMO foods in ignorance and a whole bunch of other things due to ignorance as well. I can try to do the best I can to live up to what I was awakened to in the 60’s. Here’s to peace, love, justice, equality and rock n’ roll!

p.s. There are a lot of awesome articles on the Internet regarding the history – observation and correlation – of Uranus-Pluto. Here’s a link to finding out how it might affect your Sun-sign: www.uranus-pluto. Good luck and don’t forget: [R]evolution now!

Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) December stands as an enormous test for Aries of every stripe and color. The most impactful planetary square of the century so far – Uranus [Aries] square Pluto [Capricorn] – is virtually exact all month. The radical changes, death and rebirth process over the last several years has broken façades of denial, delusion and self-deception. Now it’s time to rebuild brick by golden brick. Leave the rubble behind.

Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) The Dec. 6th Gemini full Moon rises high above the snow and ice, shimmering down upon your life as you have created it. Personal responsibility – for your health, happiness, wealth and well-being – is a theme this week and month. Take a good, long look at where you find yourself today. Partnership issues have slowly improved. Focus on the positive aspects of it all, take the high road and choose joy.

Gemini (May 20-June 20) The December full Moon comes to fruition in your sign this week, shining silvery light upon the path you walk, how you talk and the way you rock. It’s almost like a performance, with you as the star. And good news, as the stars in the sky align with your personal role, you are uplifted, encouraged and enlightened. Service to others and service in general are themes. More good news: you feel blessed with grace to serve.

Cancer (June 20-July 22) The sixth of seven dynamic Uranus-Pluto squares take place in mid-December. This marks another milestone and turning point for the world, and is especially significant for cardinal signs, of which Cancer is one. So, hold on tight to freedom and let go of what no longer serves you. This has been a long-term, ongoing process of facing fears, embracing courage and doing whatever it takes to move forward.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) A fortuitous fire-sign trine offsets December’s challenging cardinal square this month and sets the stage for one of the most dynamic, dramatic holiday seasons in years. Good news is your natural-born generosity of spirit and lion-hearted approach to life helps others move through sorrow, loneliness and difficulty that can pop up this time of year. Rise to the occasion, shine the light and keep your spirit bright.

Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) The December full Moon illuminates another major crossroads as mutable sign energy bounces off the Sun and dances with the stars. It’s all cosmic, whether we like it or not, and accepting that we are all – rocks and plants included – atomic particles and messengers of light puts us exactly where we need to be. That said, inner peace comes via acceptance and right action. Simply do the next right thing.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) You may feel the crunch of the ages and the turning of the cosmic wheel as December dynamics pushes and pulls you through magnificent highs and daunting downs, around blind corners and across shimmering, sparkling seas. It’s like a fairy tale of good and bad, magic and mystery, challenge and triumph. You are now being called to follow your destiny. Just be the brave, balanced, beautiful star you are.

Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) We have reached another critical collective turning point on planet Earth, and December 2014 stands as a wake-up call to humanity. As one who knows the value of commitment and perseverance, you may find yourself baffled by the irresponsibility of so many. Good, bad or ugly, you are here to lead by example, stay the course of light and find worthy comrades along the way. Onward Cosmic Traveler!

Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Starlight and moonlight bounces from here to there, round and about as the Archer soars above the mundane worlds of work and play. Cosmic rays encourage you to dialogue, brainstorm and envision new possibilities, as some may not be as creative, optimistic or ingenious as others. Don’t be surprised if you feel challenged or pulled in directions you’d rather not go. Responsibility is freedom; ride the wave of change.

Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Strong Sagittarius energy, including a fortuitous fire-sign trine, coupled with the sixth of seven exact cardinal-sign Uranus-Pluto squares makes December a stellar month of forced awakening and enlightenment. The saying “ignorance is bliss” applies here, but it’s just no longer possible. Gather your courage and resources as you prepare for a major shift of consciousness and change of heart. Yes, you can.

Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Moving and grooving, resting and relaxing, December is full of it all. Lunar light and solar rays shine brilliant light into heart and soul, home and hearth, illuminating the people, places and things near and dear. By focusing on goodness, rather than the alternatives, you increase and amplify its existence. This is not denial, but rather like planting, nurturing and growing plants that feed and improve the world. Good luck.

Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Full Moons are fruitions and culminations, when the consequences of our choices become clear. It is here we must decide whether to carry on or change our course of action and operation. The Dec. 6th lunation takes place in the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity and serves as a point of awakening and illumination for the Fish. Look deeply into the chasms of light, see what you need to see and do what you need to do.
