The Sheridan Arts Foundation and Telluride Theatre collaborate once again to produce a family-friendly, hilarious holiday romp, the musical “Playing Santa,” live at the Sheridan Opera House Dec. 17-21, 2014.

“Playing Santa” is a comedy about a man who, after a bad fall on his head while skiing, wakes up believing he is Santa. His family quickly learns they will not convince him otherwise and instead of living in turmoil, they decide to hire actors to play along with his delusion. It’s a madcap show about identity, truth and what it means to be Santa.

“We are so excited to partner with the Sheridan Arts Foundation to bring awesome theatrical entertainment to town this holiday season,” said Sasha Sullivan, Telluride Theatre’s Artistic Director. “I’ve had the idea of writing ‘Playing Santa’ for a while , but the result is better than I ever imagined. Truly a holiday spectacular fun for the whole family.”

“I love the idea of identity – who we think we are and how that effects our lives,” Sullivan continued. “Kids pretend all the time and can be in a different world, a different character at the drop of the hat. I think everyone will relate to the characters in this story of ordinary people dealing with extraordinary circumstances. Set in Santa’s Workshop, or what is made to look like it, the play is a wild ride, a holiday explosion and totally off the wall hilarious.”

Fun for the whole family, “Playing Santa” is rated G and is the perfect way to kick off your holiday celebration. With original music, crazy characters, a wildly talented cast of actors and tons of laughs, this is a play not to be missed.

Again, “Playing Santa” is a co-production with Telluride Theatre and the Sheridan Arts Foundation, the non-profit that owns and operates the Sheridan Opera House. Both organizations are committed to providing quality entertainment to the Telluride region and decided to partner after “Dude & Bro’s” original run at the Opera House was a huge success.

“We are pleased to partner with Telluride Theatre once again for family friendly holiday story,” said Kathrine Warren the SAF’s PR/marketing director. “We strive to produce quality holiday entertainment each December and Sasha and her team have worked their magic once again!”

Tickets are $10 on local’s night, Wednesday, Dec. 17 and $15 for adults and $12 for students Dec. 18-21. “Playing Santa” will play at 7 p.m. each night Wednesday-Saturday and close out with a 4 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
