Telluride Foundation: Telluride Gives!

Telluride Foundation hosts 4th annual Telluride Gives Day. $15,000 in match money possible

On December 13, 2014 or 12.13.14, the Telluride Foundation and local nonprofit organizations want to prove that giving is local. Telluride Give’s goal: every full-time, part-time resident or visitor of the region will log-on to www.telluridegives.org and contribute to their favorite cause. Donors can find a vast selection of nonprofits listed on telluridegives.org and can give directly to a cause that will make a difference. This is an opportunity for everyone who cares about the Telluride region to give locally and collectively to the community.

New for 2014 is a $15,000 match that will double every dollar donated after all the nonprofits collectively raise $50,000. San Juan Kids Endowment is providing $10,000 of the match this year, which will be shared with every participating nonprofit on a proportional basis to the amount they raise.

KOTO Community Radio is partnering with the Foundation to promote Telluride Gives 12.13.14 and will be broadcasting information and updates all day long. Listen to profiles and interviews with participating nonprofits prior to and during the Telluride Gives event.

“We know that our local nonprofit organizations enrich our lives every day. We hope that on 12.13.14, we can show our collective local appreciation by giving to them directly online,” says Katie Singer, Marketing Director of the Telluride Foundation. ”

The Telluride Foundation has been supporting the good work of local nonprofits and their causes for 14 years and wants to connect individuals with their stories, their successes, and their challenges. Each local nonprofit is invited to post their story or an individual project that needs funding. Donors can go to www.telluridegives.org and select which organizations to fund and what amount to give; donors may give to many or a single cause. One-hundred percent of all donations go to charity (minus a processing fee charged by the credit card companies). Giving commences at noon on Friday, 12.12.13 and ends at 11:59p.m on 12.13.14.

Historically, Telluride Gives raised:

$19,000 from 178 individuals for 29 nonprofits on 11.11.11

$43,000 from 421 individuals for 40 nonprofits on 12.12.12

$56,000 from 726 individuals for 57 nonprofits on 11.12.13

Campaign organizers hope that people who have never donated before will give on this day, as well as enable donors to connect with new causes and programs.

“Telluride Gives is about our daily lives – our schools, pets, education, athletics, arts, culture, health and families – everything that makes our lives and our local community unique. It is also about taking care of one another, providing for families and children in need or in crisis.” says Singer.
