Telluride Yoga Center: Lara Catone on Women’s Health

Telluride Yoga Center: Lara Catone on Women’s Health

“Ecstatic experiences disassemble us in some significant way and swirl our pieces back together again in new configurations,” Barbara Carrellas, from “Ecstasy is Necessary”

Meryl Streep could not curb her enthusiasm when Best Supporting Actress winner (for “Boyhood”) Patricia Arquette used the podium soap-box style to demand equal rights for women in Hollywood, in the board room, everywhere in America. But there’s a much more basic concern for the fairer sex in our country than their bank accounts: health. A few sobering stats underline the point:

• At least 5 million women in the U.S. have endometriosis.  (U.S Dept of Health & Human Services)

• 78% of those with autoimmune disease are women. (National Institutes of Health)

• The U.S. has the highest maternal death rate among all developed nations. (World Health Organization)

• 1.5 million women in the U.S. take birth control pills for reasons other than preventing pregnancy. (Guttmacher Institute)

 • 1 in 10 women suffer from low desire on a level that causes distress.  (National Institutes of Health)

Exactly why are American women so unhealthy?

What you will discover at Lara’s talk:

• Seven pathways towards women’s sexual wellness.

• Mind/body techniques for optimal vitality.

• Simple steps you can take NOW toward healing yourself (and your clients if you are a body worker or yoga instructor).

Lara contends that the modern woman has disconnected from her wild nature and the innate wisdom of her body. She also believes every woman has an inner artist yearning to create magic from the mundane and an inner healer just waiting to guide her to radiance and vitality. At her workshop on Saturday, “The Ecstatic Woman,” 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Lara invites attendees to journey into the deepest parts of their being to gently uncover places that are hiding or remaining silent.

Come if your answer is “yes” to any of the following questions:

• Do you feel the call from a part of you that longs to be expressed?

What you will learn at the workshop:

• Practices for balancing reproductive health

• How to leverage your cycle for optimum energy

• Exercises for harnessing your core power

• Real ways to reduce stress and access more ecstasy in everyday life

After an afternoon of discovery, play and personal transformation, ritual movement, interactive exercises and sisterhood, Lara promises practitioners will have achieved the following:

• Opened to their intuition
