The Telluride Film Festival and Wilkinson Public Library are thrilled to present THELMA AND LOUISE (1991, 106 minutes, Rated R), Ridley Scott’s adventure crime drama features the stunning duo of Geena Davis (Thelma) and Susan Sarandon (Louise). The film received six Academy Award nominations and won for Best Original Screenplay. Both Sarandon and Davis were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Also with Harvey Keitel and Brad Pitt.

The 2015 summer series, GRAND ADVENTURES, showcases three films about hitting the road (or sea, as it were).  These selections highlight Wilkinson Public Library’s adult summer learning program, “Choose Your Own Adventure,” which focuses on the idea of experiential learning and pushing personal frontiers.

In this first cinematic installment, two close friends set out for a two-day vacation from their monotonous lives and end up embroiled in a whirlwind of adventure, romance and run-ins with the law. Includes one of the most iconic final scenes in the history of filmmaking. Screenings in July and August will feature J.C. Chandor’s ALL IS LOST (2013, 115 minutes, Rated PG-13) and Tim Burton’s PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE (1985, 91 minutes, Rated PG).

Moer about Glory Fioramonti:

Glory Fioramonti has had a groundbreaking career as the top stuntwoman of the 70s-90s. She began her career in her twenties, doubling Ann Margaret in a John Wayne movie. She was the first woman ever to roll a car and to lay down a motorcycle – and she can be credited with opening the door for female stunt artists, stunt coordinators and 2nd unit directors. THELMA AND LOUISE was her favorite project throughout her 40-year career, as well as the most challenging. Glory became Susan Sarandon’s stunt double and stunt coordinator for the next 10 years.
