The Bow Wow Film Festival, under the direction of Susan Kelley, and in conjunction with WebEye Group Productions, the producer of the highly successful Fly Fishing Film Tour and the Hunting Film Tour, is excited to announce the 2015 Bow Wow Film Tour, featuring, of course, canine superstars. (Aren’t they all?)

The Bow Wow Film Festival offers up a fun family evening comprised of a series of short films highlighting dogs, dog behavior, and the human-animal bond.

The Bow Wow Film Festival collaborates with animal rescues and humane societies around Colorado and the country to raise funds and awareness for adoptable animals, while having fun. This event at The Sheridan Opera House in Telluride will benefit the Second Chance Humane Society.

Second Chance will begin the day at 9 a.m. in Elks Park with dog events, games and contests. Activities conclude with a group hike that wraps up the three-week Wag-A-Thon, with participants raising money by hiking with their dogs.

Evening activities begin with a silent auction and cash bar at 6 p.m. at the Sheridan. Adoptable Second Chance dogs will be onsite to meet and greet.

The 2015 Bow Wow Film Festival kicked off In June to a sold-out, standing room only, group of dog lovers in Boulder, delighting audiences at every stop.

Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 day of show, and available through The Sherbino Theater, Second Chance Humane SocietySherbin Thrift Shops, and online at TicketRiver.

Children under 12 are $7.

Editor’s note: It’s no secret. The Telluride region is dog heaven. Well, pet heaven. Unless you are one of our furry friends who gets caught in the maw of neglect and abuse. Then heaven is on hold until Second Chance Humane Society comes to the rescue. Second Chance is the region’s nonprofit dedicated to saving animals’ lives and promoting responsible pet parenting and human-animal bond. In her weekly blog, executive director Kelly Goodin profiles at least one, generally two of the many animals now living at the no-kill shelter, Angel Ridge Shelter, a dog and a cat, hoping to find them loving permanent homes. The column is sponsored by Ted Hoff of Cottonwood Ranch & Kennel, who from time to time exercises his skills as a dog whisperer, partnering with Kelly and her staff to help train a particularly challenging animal.

By the by, there is no better place to park your pup than Cottonwood whenever you head out of town (for locals) or are heading to town and staying somewhere that does not allow pets. Consider joining Ted’s Very Important Dog (VID) Club for added benies. (Details on Ted’s website.)

Second Chance Humane Society Animal Resource Center and Thrift Shop are both located in Ridgway, but service San Miguel, Ouray & Montrose Counties. Call the SCHS Helpline at 626-2273 to report a lost pet, learn about adopting a homeless pet, or about the SCHS Spay/Neuter, Volunteer, Feral Cat, or other Programs.
