“A wonder to behold,” wrote Kenneth Turan of the LA Times.

GKids, a New York City-based distributor specializing in the presentation of the world’s finest children’s cinema works generously with the Telluride Film Festival to bring fantastic films to the region throughout the year.

This multi-country creation (Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Denmark) is “based on the Irish legend of the Selkies. ‘Song of the Sea’ tells the story of the last seal-child, Saoirse, and her brother Ben, who go on an epic journey to save the world of magic and discover the secrets of their past. Pursued by the owl witch Macha and a host of ancient and mythical creatures, Saoirse and Ben race against time to awaken Saoirse’s powers and keep the spirit world from disappearing forever.”Gkids

My kids, ages 7 and 4, loved it right away, and we’ve rented it three times now. My 4-year old son keeps asking for Song of the Sea pajamas. Three weeks after the last viewing, he sings the songs while he’s brushing his teeth.
