His hardcore cult following knows Roger Clyne “is equal parts storyteller, songwriter and singer, talents that have earned him a reputation as the ‘Bruce Springsteen of the Southwest.’” (Asbury Park Press).

They know the man writes “take-no-prisoners music and deeply felt, soul-searching lyrics.” (Press Journal, FL)

Yet for future fans, as one critic summed up, Roger Clyne remains a “poster child for oversight in the pantheon of brilliant rock and roll artists.”

Heard of The Refreshments? Their release, Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big & Buzzy was Clyne’s first big hoorah.

Back in 1996, that addictive album went #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Songs like the radio smash, “Banditos,” “Down Together,” and “Girlie” are about as infectious today as they were yesterday. And all remain staples in The Peacemakers’ live sets, along with “Blue Collar Suicide,” “Mekong,” “Interstate,” “Mexico,” and “Nada.”

Discover “one of the most successful indie bands of the 21st century” (Rolling Stone) when Beyond the Groove Productions presents Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers at Club Red.

“Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers grew from the ashes of The Refreshments, the Nineties alt-rock band responsible for radio gems like “Banditos” and TV themes like the one for King of the Hill. There’s still plenty of rock & roll muscle in the Peacemakers’ rootsy stomp, but there’s country, too — specifically the wide-open country of Arizona, whose desert dwellers and dusty landscapes rear their heads on signatures tunes like “¡Americano!,” continued Rolling Stone.

Born and raised in Arizona, Clyne has desert dirt in his blood – and under his fingernails.

As an adult, Clyne traveled the globe, but he always returns to Arizona –  or Mexico – where the multi-talented singer-songwriter has a second home and produces his own private-label, top-shelf, award-winning tequila: Mexican Moonshine.

Moonshine, Roger Clyne style.

For two decades, desert heat has permeated Clyne rootsy rock, and his “sly, smart lyrics, covering subjects like crimes-gone-bad, trailer-park denizens, and the relative merits of whiskey vs. tequila.” (Salt Lake Weekly).

By sticking to their credo of art over commerce and mixing relentless guitar licks, four-part harmonies with witty, insightful lyrics, emotive ballads, Cantina rockers –  and tequila – the Tempe-based Peacemakers have released seven consecutive studio albums, all of which debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Internet Sales chart, two at #1. (The quartet is the first independent band to ever accomplish that feat.)

Roger Clyne is often compared to John Mellancamp, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Springsteen, even Elvis Costello and Bob Marley. His gift for writing honest, indelible songs never fails to strike a chord.

Or cause a shoe to shake.

So raise a glass (tequila, whiskey, wine, no matter), in 2016, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of  Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy.
