The Telluride Hospital District (THD) board has formed a search committee to find a new CEO for the Telluride Medical Center (TMC).  The search committee is made up of THD board representatives, Chairman Larry Mallard and Secretary, Carol Kammer; TMC staff representatives Dr. Sharon Grundy and Dr. Diana Koelliker; and representatives from the community, Regional President of Alpine Bank, Andrew Karow and Executive Director of Tri-County Health Network, Lynn Borup. THD has hired search firm Baker Tilly to assist in identifying candidates.

After an initial screening, Baker Tilly presented viable candidates to the THD search committee. The first round of on-site interviews are scheduled for February 17. The committee will select candidates for a second round of interviews in late February and early March.

Gordon Reichard has been the Executive Director at the TMC since March of 2007.

Over his nine-year tenure, Reichard has been instrumental in getting the TMC Foundation off the ground, securing federal grant funding for healthcare initiatives, overseeing the remodel of the Emergency Room and reception areas, and instituting best business practices and safeguards to ensure financial stability.

“I was fortunate to have inherited a talented leadership team that has helped to guide the medical center over the past nine years. I have worked with some really great people.  I’m blessed to be able to retire a few years early and pursue my passions of photography, mountain biking and volunteering with my church,” said Reichard.

The actual date of his retirement will be confirmed once the new CEO has been hired.

The deadline for applications is February 19, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. THD will publicly notice the list of finalists two weeks prior to candidate selection. The committee hopes to select a final candidate during the March 18 THD board meeting and announce the new CEO by April.

The announcement of the CEO search comes in the midst of plans to build a new $32 million facility with expanded services.  THD intends to pay for the project through a combination of philanthropy, grants, THD reserve funds, and a proposed general obligation bond.
