Telluride Foundation: Workshop, “Taking the Guesswork Out of Communications”

When it comes to nonprofit marketing, one of the most common questions is how often to talk to supporters.

Send marketing too often, inundate people and risk having them unsubscribe; not enough and you run the risk they will feel unengaged by your organization. Controlling the frequency of communications sent to stakeholders is a key aspect of any marketing strategy.

For nonprofits and interested public wanting to know more about how to create an effective marketing strategy, the Telluride Foundation is hosting a free, public workshop, “Taking the Guesswork Out of Communications.” The intensive will be held Wednesday, August 17, 9 – 11:30 a.m., at the Placerville School House in Placerville.

Nonprofit staff and board members are encouraged to attend to learn how to stay on track, manage your marketing workflow, and create impactful content that is right for you and the people you serve. This 2.5-hour workshop will give you easy to use tools to effectively manage your ongoing marketing efforts such as newsletters, email campaigns, website updates, social media, press releases, and events. You’ll learn the basic guidelines to help you develop a marketing strategy and you’ll leave with your very own 3-month content calendar -taking the guesswork out of communications.

The workshop will be taught by Averill Doering and Traci Schalow of Kindred Collective.

Kindred Collective is a community-minded, marketing group based in Ridgway, Colorado. Structured as a collective of local, creative professionals, Kindred brings home-town stories to life through online and in-person communications. The Collective works primarily with local businesses, nonprofits, and rural governments throughout southwest Colorado to craft custom marketing and outreach programs with a unique eye toward community-building and regional collaboration. Founding members, Averill Doering, Traci Schalow, and Josh Gowans specialize in the areas of strategic planning, graphic design, and web development respectively. With this dynamic skillset in place, Kindred creates breakthrough brands, websites, print collateral, social media, and events. The Kindred team believes that, “when we invest our time and talents in the rural communities where we live – we all prosper.” That’s why, “we’re community driven by design.”
