Shrink Rap: How to Meet Someone When the Internet is Down

Dr. Paul was recently interviewed by Aly Walensky of  The Nightstand about “How to Meet Someone When the Internet is Down.” Yes, it’s possible. Maybe preferable.

Online dating is pretty new in the grand scheme of things, however, one would never know that. Over the course of a few years, it’s gone from a new and potential option to what feels like the only option.

But is online dating the only way we can meet someone? Can we still just go out and do it like our parents did? Absolutely.

This may be more challenging today than we may think because we have to reintroduce the idea of “talking” to each other and getting out of the house. “I always recommend that the best way to meet others is when they are getting out of their comfort zone and doing something that they personally enjoy,” says Ryan Beale, a psychologist.

There’s nothing quite like sniffing out a good mate. “I use this term literally and figuratively. Our sense of smell is the most intense sense that we have,” says Dr. Paul Hokemeyer. “ Our olfactory glands are directly linked to our central nervous system. There’s nothing quite like the smell of a hot mate.”

But don’t JUST rely on your nose.
