Telluride Arts: Small Grant Apps Open for Artists

Telluride Arts is now accepting applications for the 2018 Small Grants for Artists program. Funding is available up to $2000 for individual artist projects, group projects, professional development and artist-to-artist workshops. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2017, 5 p.m. Projects begin February 1, 2018, and end December 1, 2018.

Funds granted through Telluride Arts’ Small Grant program support artists working across any discipline. Everyone is encouraged to apply regardless of whether they have submitted previously or this is their first time seeking support.

Artist projects may include, but are not limited to, the creation, completion or presentation of new work and professional development such as conferences, workshops, residencies, and classes. Telluride Arts encourages anyone wishing to learn more about the program to contact the staff.

Artists applying for a grant will be required to share their work with the public through a performance, publication, exhibit, screening or a simple written or photo documentation of the project, in print or online. Telluride Arts will support this process through marketing and coordination.

“The Small Grants program has been a powerful engine to advance the work of our local artists for over fifteen years. Grants pay for hard costs, and have been leveraged to attract funding from outside of the region to support significant projects, including award-winning film, cutting-edge theatre, music recordings, written publications, fine art exhibitions, and a dance company to name a few,” said Kate Jones, executive director, Telluride Arts.

The Telluride Arts Small Grants program is a long-term investment to develop the expertise of local artists funded by the Town of Telluride and administered by Telluride Arts. Grant proposals are reviewed each year by a panel of five different artists across a variety of disciplines. The committee changes each year ensuring a fresh perspective and equal opportunity for those applying. Small grants support the innovation, creativity and professional development of individual artists living or working in Telluride.
