Spa Linnea at Hotel Madeline: Refresh and Revitalize in Intimate Luxury
What’s in a name? In the case of Spa Linnea, is the alluring promise of relaxation and revitalization in the context of the understated elegance of Hotel Madeline, with its look and feel of a home away from home – only better – with its meeting rooms, restaurants for casual and fine dining and a menu of personalized services, including those featured at the spa.
Spa Linnea is named for the nordic paired flower that grows in the wild in the Scandinavian mountains of Sweden and in the alpine meadows of the Colorado Rockies. With an eye on fashioning a truly distinctive spa experience, Blu Spas, Inc. focused on the environmental extremes that are part of every Telluride vacation: dry air, high altitude and sun exposure. Pinpoint therapies enable the spa’s clientele to play hard then rest easy thanks to the highest quality natural products and treatments delivered by talented, nationally certified (often dually licensed) aestheticians and massage therapists – also known as “Altitude Adjusters” – who have first-hand knowledge about the natural intensity as well as the beauty the Rocky Mountains hold.

Spa Linnea unfolds as a soothing space to unwind and revitalize amid locally inspired design elements. The intimate spa features suites with private showers, steam rooms, fireplaces and unparalleled views. The spa’s oxygen therapy room offers a relaxing space to restore, re-hydrate and re-energize bodies and minds overtaxed by the thin mountain air. For post-treatment reflection, a tearoom serves herbal and organic refreshment, with herbal teas and organic fruits and nuts as well as healthful creations of fresh local ingredients from M’s Restaurant.
Spa Linnea utilizes three skincare lines for treatments as well as retail purchase: Zents of Boulder creates spa-grade body care with sophisticated scents from Colorado ingredients. The Carslbad, California-based skincare lifestyle company Skin Authority offers the most naturally effective ingredients in its line as does Naturopathica, the East Hampton, New York-based company with an holistic approach to skin care. Fifteen years ago, when the only thing “natural” in the world of skin care was aging, Naturopathica took the lead in emphasizing how diet, herbal remedies, and mind/body techniques serve to enhance beauty from the inside out.
Spa Linnea’s treatment menu runs from traditional and specialty massages to body and wellness therapies, facials and beauty treatments to packages and rituals. Among its signature offerings is the “Spirit of the Mountains
Massage,” which employs a healing herbal poultice to deliver soothing warmth, detoxification and therapeutic botanicals deep into muscles, plus potent aromatherapy oils and balancing pressure points for healing. The “Base Camp Recovery Ritual” is the ultimate in recovery following extreme athletic endeavors and weekend warrior pursuits. The treatment takes place in a private spa suite with soothing mineral soak, aromatic steam, alpine deep tissue massage, recovery tea, and oxygen therapy. Mountain Love Journey proves two is often better than one. This treatment is a couples package featuring body scrub, steam, massage mud, soaking bath, signature scents and an enduring massage washed down with sparkling wine and artisan chocolates.
Spa Linnea’s therapists are also qualified to do stand-alone therapies such as Reiki energy work, Myofascial release techniques, reflexology and crania-sacral treatments.
What’s more, you don’t need to be a guest of Hotel Madeline to enjoy Spa Linnea. Outside guests are welcome.
Spa Linnea recently hired a new Spa Director, Loren Kornreich, formerly Loren Anderson of The Peaks’ Golden Door Spa. (What goes around…) Loren’s resume is impressive. Most recently she served as opening executive spa director for the new 35,000 square foot Spa Montage at Montage Deer Valley’s Five-Star property, ultimately named “#1 newest opened spa in the world” by Forbes Travel.
