From the saloons of Telluride to the some of the most sought-after venues in America, Bill Nershi has delighted countless fans as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and founding member of the String Cheese Incident, Honkytonk Homeslice and The Emmitt-Nershi Band.

A seasoned veteran of flat-picking and a variety of acoustic styles, Bill Nershi adds a unique, colorful perspective to any musical situation he encounters; his enthusiasm and playful spirit encourage an interactive, participatory experience for musicians and fans alike. Nershi still calls Colorado home and when he’s not on tour, he is writing, recording and producing in his own studio, The Sleeping Giant.

Bill and his musician wife Jillian are joined on St. Patrick’s Day by the Kauai-based trio Island Grass. Island Grass’ sound can be thought of as an island-inspired fusion of Hawaiian music, reggae and bluegrass.

While Bill, Jillian and Island Grass became close on the quiet island of Kauai, the founding members of the trio and Bill all attended the same high school just north of New York City at different times. Fox Lane High School was the common denominator for these talented musicians as well as their sometimes bassist, Andy Kuusisto, another Fox Lane graduate. Island Grass is comprised of Ken Solin on guitar and lead vocals; Pat Gmelin on banjo and backing vocals; and Rob Arita on mandolin and backing vocals.

Don’t miss this St. Patrick’s Day celebration full of feel-good bluegrass and reggae at the historic Sheridan Opera House.

The Sheridan Arts Foundation was founded in 1991 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization to preserve the historic Sheridan Opera House as an arts and cultural resource for the Telluride community, to bring quality arts and cultural events to Telluride and to provide local and national youth with access and exposure to the arts through education. The Sheridan Arts Foundation is sponsored in part by grants from the CCAASE and Colorado Creative Industries.
