Ah Haa: Annual BRAvo, Sheridan Bar, 10/10!

Ah Haa: Annual BRAvo, Sheridan Bar, 10/10!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Prevention Month. In support, the Ah Haa  School is hosting the 10th Annual Bra Invitational. The event takes place Thursday, October 10, 7:30 p.m., at the New Sheridan Bar where gentlemen from the Telluride community are modeling the bra creations. The fashion show is followed by an auction of all the decorated bras. This year, there is a suggested $15 donation for entry. Get there early to secure the best view at the front of the bar. Cash comes in handy, too. For more information, please contact the Ah Haa School at (970) 728-3886.

Men in Black? That’s a thing.

But Boys in Bras?

Yes, a thing too.

Not just in a drag club – and anything but a drag.

Also too good to be kept secret.

BRAvo past; manly man present.

In support of Breast Awareness Month, namely October, Ah Haa hosts its 10nth annual Bra Invitational or BRAvo. The happening takes place Thursday, October 10, 7:30 p.m., at the New Sheridan Bar where gentlemen from the Telluride community will model the community’s bra creations, followed by an auction of all the decorated undergarments.

“This highly anticipated event gets the whole community involved. Everyone from local artist to firemen, the Sheridan Bar, and guests has made BRAvo grow and become a fun and unique way to come together, express ourselves creatively and shine a light on serious and often very painful challenges,” said Kathleen Cole, Special Events and Marketing at the Ah Haa School for the Arts. “It is just so important to bring, umm, support to these huge issues facing all too many women and men today.”</em

A portion of the proceeds from the evening’s entertainment benefits the Telluride-based San Miguel Resource Center as well as the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Group of Southwestern Colorado based in Montrose.

The Resource Center provides intervention services, prevention education, support and advocacy to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Telluride community, where its goal is to put itself out of business by eliminating interpersonal violence.

Bosom Buddies Cancer Support Group of Southwestern Colorado provides emotional and financial support to people affected by breast cancer and living in small communities throughout southwestern Colorado.

Another BRAvo past presenter. Who do you know will model this year?

“We all know Telluride is a uniquely talented community. At no time does this become more apparent than in the bras submitted to the BRAvo fundraiser each year: everything from bottle caps to paint, felt, even keys and electronics have adorned the undergarments-as-canvas Ah Haa provides each year. And the men who model the unmentionables are equally colorful and uninhibited. Why men? Because breast cancer effects men through their mothers, daughters, sisters and wives and having guys model the bras allows them to become an active part of the event, turning the tables in the scourge in a fun and festive way,” added Cole.”We are hoping for the best year yet.”
