The Telluride Film Festival is excited to present two highly anticipated films this December, FORD v FERRARI and A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, at the Michael D. Palm Theatre for the Performing Arts while the Nugget Theatre is closed temporarily due to safety precautions during a winter remodel by the owners of  the building. Scroll down for more, including trailers for the movies.

FORD v FERRARI:

FORD v FERRARI plays this weekend on Saturday, December 7 at 5:30 & 8:30pm.

“Premiering this summer at the 46th Telluride Film Festival, the film follows Henry Ford II (Tracy Letts) who wants to design a car to challenge Ferrari’s Formula One model at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France. He tasks designer Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale) with the project.

“James Mangold (WALK THE LINE) skillfully manages both the kinetic thrills of the races and the subtle psychology of the project, which is endlessly complicated by ego, ambition and imagination.” (from TFF Program Guide, #46).

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

Mister Rogers (Tom Hanks) meets journalist Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) in TriStar Pictures’ A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

Next Friday, December 13 at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm, A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD is featured for two shows at the Palm.

“This movie bets on goodness and wins,” wrote Joe Morgenstern of The Wall Street Journal.

Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about kindness, love and forgiveness from America’s most beloved neighbor.

The Telluride Film Festival extends a special thank you to Palm Arts for their assistance during this time and to the Telluride community for their patience while the Nugget is closed due to building construction.
